Quality Engineer

In this role, you will monitor, plan, and improve business processes to enhance production output and product quality. You will introduce new processes and procedures, set quality standards, drive continuous improvements, and resolve problems. Additionally, you will collaborate with the team to implement lean methodologies, optimizing processes, equipment, and performance. Other responsibilities include creating acceptance test procedures, inspecting materials and products, developing quality control systems, maintaining the calibration system, conducting internal audits, and determining corrective actions.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Monitor production processes and identify potential problems and malfunctions.
  • Participate in the validation of manufacturing and engineering processes, including on-the-job training.
  • Resolve quality issues through the structured application of problem-solving and root cause analysis techniques.
  • Complete First Inspection Reports
  • Monitor the calibration system and ensure equipment is continually calibrated to schedule.
  • Support prototype, sample, and controlled product change builds through pre-production and production cells.
  • Complete internal product and system audits and perform any necessary duties as an internal auditor.
  • Support the supplier quality engineer or inspection during busy periods or times of absence.

Qualifications:

  • HNC/HND (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline.

Experience:

The ideal candidate will have over 4 years of experience in engineering, manufacturing, and QA. Can use problem-solving techniques and effective at presenting data and identifying problem areas through analysis. They can interpret engineering drawings and use required equipment to confirm inaccuracies is essential. Experience working with cross-functional teams is necessary, and experience in manufacturing in a high-value, low-volume setting is desirable.

Knowledge:

Essential knowledge includes the ability to read and understand technical drawings and complete FAIRs. A solid understanding of ISO standards, such as 9001 and/or AS9100, is required. Desirable knowledge includes an understanding of ISO 14001, 27001, and AS9100 standards, as well as lean principles. The ability to use a CMM (Coordinate-measuring machine) is also desirable.
