Tax Senior Associate or Assistant Tax Manager – Tax Investigations

K3TA is a growing tax advisory business that was launched in 2021 as part of the K3 Capital group of professional services companies. We are focused on transaction, restructuring, disputes and advisory work and are a leading provider of tax advice to the mid-market.

As part of our mission to grow our team of skilled tax advisers, we are looking to welcome anew Senior Associate or Assistant Tax Manager to the Tax Investigations team.

inTAX is a trading brand within K3TA and has operated in the Tax Investigations market since 2013. Now part of a much larger group, inTAX is part of the diverse K3TA tax advisory offering which also gives the successful candidate the opportunity to work across multiple service lines. We are looking for an enthusiastic Senior Associate or Assistant Tax Manager keen to move their career forward. To succeed in this role, the ideal candidate will come from a personal self-assessment background, with a solid understanding of related compliance matters. Additional experience of corporation tax, employment taxes or VAT is helpful but not essential.

Within the K3 Capital group, we work alongside M&A, corporate recovery, tax investigation, forensic accounting, and R&D teams. K3 Capital operates across 30+ UK offices and 6 overseas locations and continues to grow through acquisition of complementary businesses.

What you will be responsible for

  • Assist senior team members with responding to HMRC enquiries and prepare disclosures of unpaid tax
  • Prepare tax computations and tax returns
  • Prepare and submit tax disclosures to HMRC in relation to offshore, property and other income
  • Prepare analyses of income and expenditure in relation to tax enquiries
  • Collate and organise client data in relation to HMRC enquiries
  • Preparation of supporting schedules by analysing backing documentation in a complete and thorough manner
  • Utilise MS Excel or similar tools to input and analyse data to create schedules of profit and loss
  • Checking of assessments, statements of account and surcharge notices for accuracy and highlighting any anomalies.

Skills you will need

  • 2+ years' experience of personal tax return preparation for Senior Associate
  • 4+ years' experience of personal tax return preparation for Assistant Manager
  • ATT qualified minimum for Senior Associate
  • CTA qualified or part qualified desirable for Assistant Manager, ATT minimum
  • Corporation Tax, VAT or employment taxes experience helpful but not essential
  • Tax disputes experience is helpful but not essential
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the confidence to deal with people at all levels
  • Attention to detail to ensure that the quality of work meets the company's professional standards and supports organisational success
  • Confident in use of Microsoft Word and Excel as well as tax return software

How do we work

We have a remote-friendly culture, and our team are located across the UK. The investigations team is largely London based and the ideal candidate would be able to regularly spend time in the London office (1 to 2 days a week). Occasional travel to other locations in the UK may be necessary depending on client or senior team member location.
