Here at Bournemouth & Poole College, we have a new opportunity available for a Maths & English Study Coach to join us on a full time, term time only, permanent basis where you will be based across all of our college sites. In return,you will receive a competitive salary of £22,659 per annum, pro rata.

About the Maths & English Study Coach role:

As a Maths & English Study Coach, you will provide additional, targeted support to students working 1:1 or in small groups.

The team work closely with the Maths and English lecturers to provide support in-line with classroom teaching and to track students progress through interventions.

Responsibilities as our Maths & English Study Coach will include:

  • Ensuring students receive a welcoming and supportive experience when coming to the Study Centre to access additional support
  • Co-producing support plans with students and teaching staff based on the student's disclosures and identified areas of need
  • Effectively implementing support plans, tracking students progress against targets at each stage
  • Work closely with Maths & English teaching staff to ensure resources for support sessions align with current teaching materials in class
  • Ensuring support strategies including Exam Access Arrangements are imbedded into working practice in all sessions
  • Maintaining up to date support resources for both individual students and also for student on-line support e.g. Moodle
  • Supporting students and staff across College with the effective use of assistive technology to improve independent learning
  • Maintaining resources in relation to wider study skills for example organisational skills and revision planning
  • Offering general study support to students during drop-in workshops or 1:1 sessions, liaising with curriculum staff to update resources and materials where required
  • Ensuring ProMonitor and other students records are kept up to date and accurate to reflect study sessions and to record key information

As our Maths & English Study Coach, you'll ideally have:

  • Level 2 (or equivalent) English and Maths
  • Experience of working in the FE sector or an educational setting and assisting teaching and supporting students
  • Have an understanding of working with students in FE or secondary education and the post-16 curriculum.
  • Communication skills including written and verbal
  • Attendance at college events ie open evenings including outside of normal working hours
