Building Safety Technician

We are seeking three Building Safety Technicians to join our Property Safety team. In this role, you will provide vital technical support in relation to building safety compliance, particularly focused on fire safety assessments and remedial actions. You will assist in implementing building safety measures and ensuring adherence to regulations.

Requirements

Key responsibilities of the Building Safety Technician include...

  • Fitting and maintaining door guards to protect against the spread of fire
  • To carry out regular inspections of communal areas and community centres and report any problems.
  • Testing and resetting of fire alarm systems and emergency lighting and maintaining appropriate records accordingly.
  • Fitting and testing of smoke alarms where applicable
  • To carry out flushing of communal toilets, wash hand basins etc as part of the organisations water management policy and maintaining appropriate site records.
  • Carry out post inspections to any compliance related works
  • Monitor the contents of the Red Box in communal areas and forward any missing information on the relevant housing officer when required
  • Carryout asbestos checks in communal areas on a regular basis
  • Check fire extinguishers in communal areas to ensure they are in date and undamaged
  • Check operation of LD1 systems to relevant sites ensuring they are in working order reporting issues were required.
  • Carry out minor repairs including changing of light bulbs and fixing of door handles etc.

We are looking for someone who has...

  • A good understanding of building safety regulations, particularly around fire safety.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the capacity to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Technical aptitude and proficiency in using IT systems, including MS Office applications.
  • A Full UK Driving Licence.
