SSC Departmental Manager

About the role

This is an important role within the SSC where you'll be an integral member of the leadership team, responsible for leading a team of first-line managers who are responsible for the daily output of the department, you'll need to be motivated to drive operational efficiency and performance.

  • To lead, develop and motivate a team who are focused on maximising shelf availability and delivering the highest service level possible to stores
  • Manage performance of staff and achieve the throughputs in their functional area
  • To ensure team members receive performance reviews
  • To make short-term decisions in the operation to overcome anything that may affect on service to stores or availability of products
  • To maintain an handover from the off going shift, the preparation and delivery of pre-shift briefings and the coordination of activity and maintenance of a positive working relationship with the wider management team
  • To implement short and medium operational plans within the warehouse
  • To lead the Health & Safety and Shrink agenda with own team and operating area
  • To ensure that a positive culture is created through communication, recognition and support also responsible for ensuring that the partnership process is supported and visible to the team

What you'll need to have

  • Experience of managing and motivating an operational team including planning and organising, exposure to controlling costs and managing a budget.
  • Experience in working and knowledge of Supply Chain, warehouse processes and flows are essential to this role.
  • Effective cross functional working and strong communication skills that are effective at all levels.
  • Support Team Leaders in developing themselves and their teams and managing performance issues that are fundamental to a successful operation.
  • The ability to interpret high-level data, forward thinking, drive and motivate teams to achieve results and help to create a culture that they are proud to work in.
