R&D Applications Scientist

Location: Portsmouth

Hours: 39 hours a week, Monday to Friday

Contract: Temporary for approx 12 months

Salary: £45,000 per annum

Acorn by Synergie is currently seeking an experienced Research & Development Applications Scientist, required by their client, a leading global manufacturing and engineering company. This role offers full-time work on a temporary basis, working dayshifts.

What are we looking for?

  • BSc Degree of equivalent in related field, higher qualification desirable.
  • Experience in protein / virus characterisation using methods such as PCR, ELISA, Affinity.
  • Chromatography and Size Exclusion Chromatography is highly desirable.
  • Practical experience in mammalian cell culture is desirable.
  • Experience in new product development projects.
  • Familiar with R&D Applications Projects( feed stock development and characterisation)

Main responsibilities:

  • Responsible for analytical method development and cell culture to support new product development and R&D activities around therapeutic monoclonal antibodies and Gene Therapy viral vectors.
  • Develops deeper technical expertise in technology / process area of interest and helps to train other associates in these areas.
  • Demonstrate project management knowledge and capabilities based on training or past experience.
  • Works in a collaborative manner in cross functional teams. Proactively offering insights and solutions to problems.
  • Focused and results oriented, approaching the job with energy, demonstrates a 'can do' attitude.
  • Communicates effectively through technical reports, presentations and provides regular project updates
  • Contributes to invention disclosures, Cytiva publications and external technical journals.
  • Actively applies Lean/Operational Excellence activities as required.Responsible for developing and performing analytical techniques for the timely delivery of bioprocessing deliverables for the following project types:
  • Complies with all company policies and procedures, e.g. code of conduct and safety compliance.

  • 34 days holiday after 12 weeks (inc Bank Holidays)
