Outreach Tutor - Cornwall

End Date: Ongoing (definitely until the end of the academic year, with the potential for extension)
Hours: 6 hours per day, 5 days a week (Monday - Friday)
Rate of Pay: £25/£35 per hour
Term Time Only / During School Hours Only

Job Role:

AckermanPierce work closely with Cornwall county council and are looking for tutors to support the children and young people within Cornwall who need access to Alternative Provision. If you feel you would be a suitable candidate to support the Children and young people within your community and help plug the gaps in there education, please get in touch today.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individualized tutoring in Math and English functional skills to the assigned student.
  • Implement differentiated instruction tailored to the student's learning needs and abilities.
  • Utilize effective behavior management strategies to promote positive learning experiences.
  • Foster a supportive and engaging learning environment, addressing SEMH complexities.
  • Collaborate with Ackerman Pierce and other stakeholders to monitor student progress and adapt strategies as needed.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Available during school hours, up to 30 hours per week.
  • Experience in delivering the National Curriculum core subjects (Math, English, Science) to students with complex and challenging needs.
  • Knowledge and experience with SEMH, ASC, MLD, and SpLD educational requirements.
  • Proven exceptional behavior management techniques.
  • Willingness to work face-to-face within the community.

Qualifications:

  • Background in teaching English, Maths, Science, or SEN classes at KS1-KS5.
  • QTS status (or equivalent) preferred, or unqualified with at least two years of experience teaching National Curriculum core subjects.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience working within a UK school setting, specifically with students having SEMH, ASD, EBD, and associated complex needs.
