Our client is currently recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor to join their mechanical sprinkler company. They operate across the commercial and residential sectors and are one of the largest family-owned companies in the UK.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contract appraisal, negotiation, and agreement - minimising risk to the company.
- Introduction of periodic contract review meetings.
- Assess contract programme vs as built programme to minimise risk and liability, issuing delay notices as and when required under the terms of the contract. Establishing cause and effect.
- Contract and sub-contract management and administration as required
- Collaborating with the project team to ensure compliance with contract terms and conditions, local regulations, and industry standards.
- Monitor and report on expenditure on contracts compared to budgets and forecasts
- Identify, value, and agree Variations and Extensions of Time at the earliest opportunity.
- Commercial management and control of sub-contract accounts, including payment preparation, final account work and input into any disputes which may arise.
- Certification of payment applications from subcontractors
Systems:
- Development and production of internal documents, reports, and briefings for senior management - implementing monthly cost and value reports for each project, as well as cost-to-completion documents.
- Liaise and provide accurate data to support the finance department with cash flow forecasting.
- Build and maintain professional relationships with both internal and external parties
- Seek to minimize the cost of a project and enhance value for money whilst still achieving the required standards and quality
- Compilation of costs for compensation events and the management of change
- Management of Change Control including Early Warnings and Compensation Events
- Assist in avoiding disputes with clients, suppliers and subcontractors
- Comprehensive analysis of quotations and tenders to facilitate the placing of official orders.
- Assisting in the compilation of commercial/contractual responses to the client and subcontractors
- Give feedback to the relevant parties with regard to contract pricing and profit and loss
- Preparing valuations for payment applications to the client
- Contribute to and attend financial and progress meetings with clients and sub-contractors as required
- Assisting in the preparation and submission of accurate and timely cost estimates and tender documents for large projects, refurbishments, fire compliance, and major works.
- Conducting cost analysis and risk assessment to identify potential cost-saving measures and accurate budget allocation for each project.
- Collaborating with the project team to identify and mitigate potential risks and disputes, ensuring the smooth progress of the project.
- Mentor graduate and trainee commercial staff within your division to support their development.
