Job Summary
This role may involve working with the obstetric team in consultant-led antenatal clinics and the Day Assessment Unit. It requires fast-paced decision-making, autonomous practice, and in-depth knowledge of a wide range of antenatal complications and core midwifery assessment skills in triage.
Description
The post holder is required to provide holistic midwifery care to women/birthing people and babies in the antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal periods. Care is provided both in hospital, birth center, and community settings, including the management of individual caseloads, clients, and/or ward areas. The role is multidimensional and requires the post holder to integrate and fulfill all the identified dimensions.
Requirements
- Valid NMC registration as a midwife
- Knowledge of current evidence-based midwifery practice
- Competence in fetal monitoring
- Knowledge of effective management of obstetric emergencies
- In-depth knowledge of medicines management
- Excellent communication skills, able to relate and communicate with patients and staff at all levels and from different professions, adapting communication style as needed
