This includes the creation of an already highly successful new Power Trading desk within the Energy Trading team as well as new ventures into various innovative solutions around the supply of Renewables including wind farms, electric vehicle charging, solar panel heating and battery storage. This role:

The Renewable Power Operator is a vital role within the Power and Renewable Gas Operations Team. This individual reports directly to the Short-Term Optimisation and Operations Team Lead and is focused on the Power side of the portfolio. This part of the team includes three Renewable Power Operators, one Senior Operator, and one Renewable Specialist, all based in London.

The team's primary responsibility is the short-term optimisation and Commercial Operations of the renewable certificate portfolios across Europe. This involves managing both subsidised and unsubsidised certificates across multiple European countries and registries. The countries include the UK, Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Spain, France, Poland, Norway, and the certificates cover GOO/COO/ROC/REGO.

The Renewable Power Operator's role is crucial in ensuring the efficient and effective management of these portfolios, contributing to the commitment to Powering Progress by achieving net-zero emissions and respecting nature. This role is instrumental in powering lives, generating shareholder value, and protecting the environment.

Accountabilities:

  • Maintaining a thorough understanding of SE-EA's Commercial business needs across the geographical portfolio, and the means by which Renewable Operations captures value.
  • Accountable for up to six monthly Power certificate auctions to optimise the portfolio position and capture value.
  • Providing Commercial Operations input into commercial pre-deal signing to ensure optimal operations and value generation.
  • Developing or improving processes and driving system enhancement where possible to facilitate growth in scope and scale.
  • Ensuring accurate day-to-day operations and certificate deliveries to strict deadlines and in a compliant manner.
  • Working alongside dealmakers to ensure that contractual commitments are adequately tracked and reconciled with internal/external counterparts, while making the best commercial decision for SE-EE.
  • Building out new routes to market in conjunction with trading and origination, ensuring the ability to operationalise deals, while maintaining a commercial focus.
  • Providing upgrade requirements for the in-house built operations tool (COM), and participating in design and review sessions.

These accountabilities are all geared towards achieving Powering Progress strategy, particularly in achieving net-zero emissions and respecting nature.

The Candidate:

  • Prior experience or knowledge of renewable certificates is a plus. This will help in understanding the complexities of the role and the industry.
  • Very strong commercial judgement and excellent analytical skills. The role requires making accurate decisions in a stressful environment, so these skills are crucial.
  • Self-motivation and an aptitude for accurate problem solving in a time-critical environment. The role requires a proactive approach and the ability to solve problems quickly and accurately.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing internal and external requirements. The energy industry is dynamic and fast-paced, so adaptability is key.
  • Ability to work in a small-integrated team, be creative, and express ideas articulately. Teamwork, creativity, and communication skills are all important for this role.
  • Proficiency in English is required, and knowledge of at least one further European language is desirable. This will help in communicating with colleagues and stakeholders across Europe.
  • Experience with coding skills, such as Python, is desirable but not essential. These skills can help in managing and analysing data.

You also need to be a self-starter, a logical thinker and a quick learner, with strong initiative and excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills, able to write clearly and concisely.
