Job Title: Metal Prep & Stores Operative

Location: Ashford, Kent

Salary: up to £26,000 (dependant on experience)

Hours: Monday to Thursday 8am - 5pm + Friday 8am - 4pm

Role Summary:

The purpose of the role is to support the Stores Controller in ensuring that the stock and materials used for manufacture are maintained in accordance with usage.

Key responsibilities within your new role would be to:

  • Ensure there are no stock shortages or supply issues.
  • Control stock to ensure stock is only released based on a given project.
  • Ensure outgoing stock is recorded against a specific project to monitor project cost.
  • Kit and allocate materials to allow operatives to manufacture products.
  • Assisting with machining and fabrication of sub-assembly components.
  • Understand and follow the stock booking in and allocation process.
  • Support and communicate all issues in relation to the monitoring and of any stock shortages.
  • Report any stock discrepancy issues to the finance department.
  • Undertaking goods inwards inspection and reconcile against delivery note.
  • Quarantine and process returned goods, and issue replacements if required.
  • Ensuring all delivery and dispatch paperwork is correct and filed correctly.
  • Support and assist the receiving / offloading of all goods.
  • Ensuring deliveries in and out are cross checked.
  • Ensure all deliveries received are recorded accurately onto the system.
  • Support with the implementation and maintenance stock locations.
  • Ensure stock is labelled and marked correctly.
  • Allocate physical stocks and record assigned stock on the computer system.
  • Continuously monitor and update stock levels.
  • Re-order points and purchase quantities to meet the demands of the business.
  • Generate job sheets for production of stock items.
  • Assist with carrying out the monthly stock testing/quarterly physical stock take.
  • Ensure raw materials are locked into the dedicated secure storage areas at the end of each day.
  • Support with the manufacture and fabrication of sub-assembly component parts.

Experience and skills required for this position:

  • Have experience within an engineering / manufacturing environment.
  • Have experience of working within a stores / despatch team.
  • Be able to communicate effectively with other departments.
  • Have a keen eye for detail.
  • Ideally you will have experience of metal preparations but not essential.
