**Job Opportunity: Temporary Procurement Manager

About the Role
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Procurement Manager to lead and shape the procurement function at the Council. This is a pivotal role where you will drive strategic procurement initiatives, ensure compliance with legislation and policy, and deliver value for money across all procurement activities.
You'll work closely with service areas and stakeholders to develop innovative sourcing strategies, manage high-value tenders, and provide expert guidance on procurement law and best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and delivery of commercially focused procurement strategies.
- Oversee the Council's procurement function, ensuring compliance and efficiency.
- Provide strategic advice and value-for-money assessments to service areas.
- Manage the Council's Contracts Register and procurement documentation.
- Lead complex tender processes and ensure robust evaluation and award procedures.
- Deliver training and guidance to internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Promote equality, diversity, and excellent customer service in all procurement activities.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- CIPS Level 4 (or equivalent).
- Extensive experience in senior procurement roles within local government or large organisations.
- Strong knowledge of public procurement law and regulations.
- Proven ability to manage strategic projects and negotiate major contracts.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and project management skills.
Desirable:
- Experience with eProcurement systems and Microsoft Office tools.
- Knowledge of project management methodologies.
