Learning Support Assistant in Dagenham

Are you a compassionate and dedicated Learning Support Assistant eager to make a difference in the lives of young learners? We are seeking an experienced Learning Support Assistant to join a friendly primary school in Dagenham for the entire academic year. This role involves supporting children in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and Key Stage 1 (KS1) within their additionally resourced provision (ARP).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide dedicated support to children in EYFS and KS1 within the ARP, catering to a range of Special Educational Needs (SEN).
  • Assist in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs) tailored to each child's specific needs.
  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENCo, and other professionals to deliver high-quality support and interventions.
  • Create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment that encourages children's social, emotional, and cognitive development.
  • Support children with their learning activities, helping them to achieve their full potential.
  • Foster positive relationships with children, helping them to build confidence and independence.
  • Engage with parents and carers, providing regular updates on children's progress and development.
  • Implement and follow safeguarding policies and procedures to ensure the safety and well-being of all children.
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with young children, particularly those with SEN, in an educational setting.
  • Strong understanding of child development and the ability to support children with diverse needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with children, parents, and colleagues.
  • A proactive and flexible approach, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and a willingness to engage in training opportunities.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.

Desirable:

  • Relevant qualifications in education or childcare (e.g., Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification).
  • Experience working in an ARP or with children who have specific learning needs.
  • Familiarity with the EYFS framework and KS1 curriculum.
