Accounts Payable Clerk

  • Job Type: Full-time, 6-month contract
  • Hours: 37.5 hours per week.

We are seeking an Accounts Payable Clerk to join our team in Leatherhead. This role is ideal for a bright graduate looking to kickstart their career in accounts or someone with 6-12 months of experience in a similar role. The position is 100% office-based, offering a structured environment to develop your skills in financial processing.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Daily posting of high volumes of supplier and subcontractor invoices using both manual and electronic methods.
  • Monitor and maintain the purchase ledger to ensure accuracy and integrity.
  • Act as the main point of contact for designated suppliers and subcontractors, resolving queries effectively and maintaining positive relationships.
  • Conduct monthly reconciliation of supplier and subcontractor statements.
  • Investigate and resolve purchase ledger queries as required.
  • Process payment runs including BACS and cheques.
  • Assist with regular payments including petty cash, compensations, and ad hoc requests.
  • Analyse internal processes to recommend and implement procedural or policy changes to improve operations and service delivery.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement and effectiveness within the finance team.
  • Provide cover and support for other members of the finance team as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as requested by the Line Manager or Finance Manager.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 6-12 months experience in an accounts payable role is advantageous but not required.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with Navision software.
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
