We are seeking a Specialised Teaching Assistant with an NNEB qualification for a unique role within the school's SEN unit. This position requires a deep understanding of child development, as you will be working with children aged 5-7 years who have challenging speech, language, and personal care needs.
Day to Day of the Role:
- Provide specialised support to children with speech and language challenges, as well as intimate and personal care needs.
- Work closely with the class teacher, who is relatively new, to integrate child development knowledge into daily activities.
- Assist in creating and implementing individualised care plans that cater to the unique needs of each child.
- Engage with children in activities that promote language development and personal growth.
- Monitor and report on the children's progress, working collaboratively with the teacher to adjust strategies as needed.
- Ensure a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for the children.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- NNEB qualification or equivalent is essential.
- Proven experience working with children who have special educational needs, particularly in speech and language development.
- Strong understanding of child development and the ability to apply this knowledge practically.
- Patience, empathy, and the ability to provide personal care with dignity and respect.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team to support the class teacher.
