Rate: Negotiable, umbrella Inside IR35
Hours: Full time,37 hours per week

Location: West Midlands
Working pattern: Hybrid working preferred

Our client is looking for an EHCP officer to join one of their Area Teams. You will be part of a team who maintain high standards of professional practice whilst also working in the best interests of children and young adults.

This is an exciting opportunity to make a difference and continue to develop their good work. You will be responsible for the statutory processes which will include coordinating annual reviews, writing and updating plans and ensuring that outcomes are set that focus on Preparation for Adulthood.

Responsibilities:

  • Hold a caseload across all areas of Statutory SEN and complete all associated tasks
  • Take a lead in an area of work such as Tribunals/New Assessments/Complex Casework/Annual reviews/Post 16
  • Work in partnership and act as a named keyworker for parents, young people and other professionals
  • Use person-centred collaborative approaches to promote active engagement with parents, carers, children and young people whilst ensuring that they fully understand the statutory process including, their rights and the duties of the Local Authority and partner agencies
  • Work collaboratively and consult with professionals from a range of disciplines, within and outside of the Local Area, to coordinate the timely submission of quality outcome focussed statutory advice for Education Health and Care Needs Assessments
  • Draft high quality education, health and care (EHC) plans that adhere to statutory requirements or provision support plans when appropriate. This includes all pupils new to the Local Authority (LA) or for those moving into the LA with an EHCP completed in another authority
  • Ensure that EHC Plans are taken through appropriate decision-making processes to agree the allocation of resources in accordance with relevant statutory requirements and guidelines
  • Conduct meetings with the family, and other agencies as required if an EHC Assessment does not result in a statutory EHC Plan

Requirements:

  • Excellent Communication Skills
  • Excellent planning & organisation skills
  • An ability to work to deadlines
  • A Good working knowledge of SEND and relevant legislation
  • An understanding of the nature and importance of co-production and partnership working
  • EHCP experience would be ideal
  • Enhanced Children's DBS (on the update service system preferred)
  • Educated to A level/NVQ4 or Equivalent substantial relevant experience
  • GSCE English/Maths
