Job description

First Achieve's Engineering Division have an exciting opportunity for an Inspector to join our client's manufacturing business in Edinburgh. Our client is an international manufacturer, dedicated to defence industries world-wide.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that project specific components are produced and inspected according to set inspection plans and specification, and will contribute to the development and enhancement of overall production process. You will report to the Chief Inspector, and operate with minimal supervision, but liase with Production, Production Engineering and Engineering Support Teams on product issues.

You'll possess prior experience in a machinist, welding, mechanical or manufacturing quality role, and possess a certified apprenticeship in one of those disciplines.

What you'll be doing:

  • Responsible for compiling, analyzing and preparing Inspection Plans.
  • Assists in developing documentation for instructional, descriptive, reference and/or informational purposes.
  • Co-ordinates and controls the Calibration of Equipment used by Inspection and Production as per Company Procedure.
  • Co-ordinate the in process inspection and surveillance of products from Good Inwards and through the manufacturing process, ensuring that Process & Product checks/ inspections are undertaken. Including first of batch acceptance check (whenever required).
  • Taking a pro-active role in the development of the 'right first time' approach and 'operator responsibility' throughout manufacturing.
  • To take a pro-active role in the development of inspection activities/ methodologies/personnel

What We're Looking for:

  • You'll have strong interpersonal skills and an ability to develop relationships with co-workers across the company.
  • Previous experience in using Microsoft work packages.
  • A strong background in the hands on industrial/engineering environment having completed an apprenticeship in an engineering disicpline.
  • You'll be the holder solely of British citizenship (due to security criteria), and will not in the last 6 years have spent a period of 6+ consecutive months outside of the UK.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings
  • Good planning and organisational skills, capacity to work under pressure as well as part of a team, and to use own initiative.
  • AN understanding of inspection processes and knowledge.
