We have an exciting opportunity for a Shift Production Manager to join our team within Vistry Works East Midlands, at our Coalville office in Leicestershire. As our Shift Production Manager, you will report directly to the Head of Manufacturing and be responsible for the management of a production team. This consisting of two shift supervisors, several working supervisors and 60+ factory operatives within a timber frame manufacturing facility. You will work across all automated and manual production lines, maintaining the highest level of safety, environmental and product quality standards.

This is a new role in a newly setup facility and team. Initially we will operate 1 shift from 7am to 3pm and will move towards 2 shifts from 2025 rotating between 6am-2pm and 2pm-10pm.

  • Experience in a manufacturing management position, ideally within the timber frame or housebuilding industry.

  • You will be a natural leader and communicator and have experience with managing and developing a large number of people in a fast-paced environment with the ability to train and motivate production staff to achieve deadlines and quality standards.

  • You will have a thorough understanding of Health and Safety and the requisite processes and procedures, with the safety and wellbeing of our people being our key priority.

  • Inductions.

  • Absence management.

  • Recruitment.

  • incident management.

  • Disciplinary procedures.

  • Confidence in a variety of manufacturing processes, including the general upkeep and safe running of woodworking machinery.

  • The ability to identify, communicate and implement opportunities for continuously improving working methods.

  • A strong general awareness of Health & Safety, manufacturing, production, transportation, construction, and on-site installation.

  • A good understanding of production software's e.g. ERP/MRP systems.

  • Health and safety qualification e.g. IOSH.

Desirable...

  • Minimum of 5 A-C GCSE (including English and Maths).

  • NVQ Level 3 or above.

  • You will be responsible for competently managing all areas of production on your shift, ensuring product quality and productivity is maintained at the agreed set levels.

  • You will work closely with and support the Production planners and Systems Co-ordinator for best production workflow.

  • You will ensure all safety and environmental policies are adhered to and applied consistently, including carrying out various checks and recording all data associated with them.

  • You will understand and observe health and safety rules and be aware of the safety of self and others to promote a safe working environment and culture.

  • You will work collaboratively with the opposite shift, ensuring that both shifts work as one whole team to achieve shared goals and targets.

  • You will set development and training for all team members to carry out tasks in their own area and be involved in their assessment by providing final sign off, to build a skilled team and drive a high-performance culture.

  • You will be alert to ‘right first time' quality standards, informing others where standards are not met so that they can take appropriate action as required to contribute to the production of a quality product.

  • You will work alongside the Engineering Team to carry out basic problem diagnosis, or call for further assistance where it is required to ensure that any downtime is minimal.

  • You will ensure that expected material requirements are in place, resolving material shortages where possible, or escalating any issues.

  • contribute to the completion of the production plan using appropriate systems where necessary

  • You will be flexible and willing to assist in busier periods where necessary, taking a hands-on role to ensure that production schedules are met.

  • You will be able to identify, communicate and implement opportunities for continuously improving working methods and seeking efficiencies.

  • You will be required to carry out any reasonable tasks or operations as directed by your line manager in the course of your duties.
