They are seeking an experienced and motivated SENCO to lead their efforts in providing high-quality, individualised learning programmes for students with additional needs.

The role

As the SENCo, your primary focus will be on ensuring that students with additional learning needs receive the appropriate support and are provided with personalised learning programmes. This non-teaching role centres on staff management, leadership, and close collaboration with various stakeholders to create a thriving inclusive educational environment. You will be instrumental in driving the Special Educational Needs and Disabilities strategy across the campus, ensuring that every student is empowered to achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the SEND team, fostering a supportive and collaborative environment where staff are encouraged to grow and excel.
  • Develop and oversee individualized support and learning programmes for students with SEND, ensuring these plans meet each student's unique needs.
  • Provide leadership and training to teaching and support staff, enhancing their ability to deliver inclusive education and effectively support diverse learning needs.
  • Monitor and evaluate the progress of students with SEND, adjusting interventions as necessary to ensure optimal outcomes.
  • Work closely with students, parents, external agencies, and other stakeholders to ensure comprehensive and collaborative support is provided.
  • Stay informed about current SEND legislation and best practices, ensuring the college remains compliant and at the forefront of inclusive education.

Essential:

  • Significant experience in a SENCo or similar role within an educational setting.
  • Proven ability to develop and manage individualized support and learning programmes.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with experience in overseeing staff and coordinating multi-campus initiatives.
  • In-depth knowledge of SEND legislation, including the SEND Code of Practice.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with a collaborative approach to working with stakeholders.

Desirable:

  • National Award for SEN Coordination qualification.
  • Experience in a secondary or further education setting.
