Electrical Engineer

Our client, a leader in the controls and automation sector, is currently seeking a talented Electrical Engineer to join their permanent team in Redhill, Surrey. This role will focus on the design, development, and testing of control systems, contributing to projects across various industries including pharmaceutical, healthcare, semi-conductor, and solar panel manufacturing. Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting in the design and development of control systems, excluding software, for projects. This involves working to GAMP 5 requirements and preparing/reviewing Client specifications, FDS, HDS, FAT, and SAT documents.
  • Be a contributing member of an assigned project execution team including a Project Manager and Mechanical Engineer.
  • Attendance at pre/post tender and contract meetings related to controls and electrical requirements.
  • Defining scope of works from client briefs/tender documents to produce detailed activity plans, estimates, and quotations.
  • Reviewing and analysing project specifications, particularly on electrical, instrumentation, and controls requirements to identify costs and implementation strategies.
  • Reviewing and developing Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (PIDs).
  • Producing detailed electrical controls and power distribution designs, including wiring diagrams, electrical control schematics, panel layouts, and cable schedules.
  • Providing technical assistance in obtaining quotations and preparing sub-contracts for control and electrical systems.
  • Sourcing and procurement of control/electrical hardware and process instrumentation.
  • Maintaining project time schedules and budgets in coordination with the Project Management team.
  • Managing the electrical control panel construction and skid wiring activities, including progress reporting.
  • Assistance in control commissioning activities, including FAT/SAT/OQ.
  • Managing electrical installation activities, including testing and commissioning on sites, and managing subcontractors and progress reports.
  • Managing and resolving any issues arising during the project lifecycle and ensuring timely resolution of electrical issues with stakeholders.
  • Drive a highly responsive culture, providing outstanding customer service to all stakeholders.
  • Ensuring compliance with all local and international standards and regulations.
  • Commercial and technical responsibility for all elements of C&I.

Job Requirements:

  • Substantial understanding of electrical engineering.
  • Knowledge of IEE or BS 7671: Requirements for Electrical Installations.
  • Relevant vocational qualifications.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage stakeholder relationships effectively.
  • Strong understanding of CAD software and other electrical design tools.
  • Knowledge of applicable codes, policies, and standards related to electrical engineering.
