Our client are looking to recruit a Field IT Support Engineer (Server Decommissioning) on a 9 month contract. This Server Hardware Support Engineer is a contract role Inside IR35. Whilst working with our client there will be national travel involved. You will need to have a full drivers license and access to a car every 6 months for audits.

Responsibilites

  • Servers fixers and repairs need to be investigated with HP server manager and we use HP ILO access to check/verify issues as standard - infrequent since more servers have been virtualised to main DC sites
  • Site decommission and site exit: managed by our team in co-op with project managers for exits, all kit separated into what is to be retained by networks team, what is then to be securely disposed of or any data holding devices (USB/HDD/etc) need to be wiped/shredded and some equipment will be designated to be RDC recycled, then arranged by us to be collected accordingly with RDC and us supervising at site on the day. Normal decommissions are usually related to equipment/device upgrades but we may be asked to support removal/disposal if it is project related
  • Perform the new site audits: dding the devices, details and information in to the Asset Point system. Also support DCM by adding the relevant site/TIR room signage and labels and performing power test etc
  • Service Now: and email support of DCM tasks related to TIR rooms, assign rack space, report site and TIR room/cabinet data for project managers, assist and support DCM team with the remote sites we are allocated.
  • Audits (Every 6 months): All TIR rooms in our area, the requires us to visit every 6 months to do a full audit of our sites, every TIR, wiring closet and storage area under our control. This includes an iPad and bar code scanner audit of every device to validate the equipment, cabinets and update/check signage, test-plug power test every PDU and report any changes/discrepancies and bits in every site/room/area. We then have to complete a report for every site, track focus areas, upload the forms pictures etc to support the DCM team. We are now also tracking any issues we find on behalf of DCM to follow issues from initial reporting through to fix and finish as focus areas and tasks

Additional Information

  • Driving license (Travel required)
  • Flexible working hours (start early and finish early for distant sites so you can arrive at 8am etc, daily shift can be 8-4 or 10-6 as the contract required 8am to 6pm coverage)
