Are you a graduate looking to gain school based experience before embarking on a career in teaching or the education sector?

Do you have a passion for working with young people and making a positive impact on their school journey?

Milk Education are currently working with SEND schools throughout Gateshead who are looking to appoint Graduate SEND Learning Support Assistants for the academic year (September 2024- July 2025) on a full time basis. You will be working with students that require both academic and pastoral support to ensure they are reaching their expected levels of progress.

You will have the opportunity to work with students on a 1:1 and a small group basis providing tailored intervention sessions as well as supporting class teachers in the classroom. This will provide invaluable experience for those aspiring to enroll on a PGCE or schools direct teacher training programme.

We are looking for aspiring teachers who have graduated in any of the following categories;

  • Maths
  • English
  • Science
  • Humanities (History, Geography, RE)
  • Languages
  • Art and Design
  • Psychology or Social Sciences
  • Sport & Physical Activity

Graduate SEND Learning Support Assistants Key criteria:

  • Must have a university degree 2:2 or above
  • Previous experience of working with SEND children would be beneficial but not essential
  • Clear desire to work with young people and become a teacher in the future
  • Must be able to provide a minimum of two references within the past two years
  • Willingness to undertake CPD training as asked by Milk and your placement school
