A distinguished Primary school in Thatcham, West Berkshire, is actively seeking a Classroom Welfare Assistant - Thatcham to start in September 2024. This presents a thrilling opportunity for either a graduate or an experienced Classroom Welfare Assistant - Thatcham to enhance their expertise in Special Educational Needs (SEN).

Knowledge of childcare and child development which may have been gained through parental/caring experiences or through formal study.

The Classroom Welfare Assistant - Thatcham position will be working in 2 classes (forms) in KS2 (Key Stage 2) with potential SEN and behavioural issues. The SEN aspiring Classroom Welfare Assistant - Thatcham will have the opportunity to work closely with children who have mental health difficulties or need closer support for literacy, numeracy and phonics.

The role

  • Pay - FTE is £22,737 | Pro rata £17,101.74 | 44.6 weeks (39 working weeks + 5.6 weeks paid holiday).
  • Hours - 8:30am - 3:30pm Monday - Friday - 32.5 hours per week.
  • Recognise and respect the role and contribution of other professionals, parents and carers of the Primary KS2 students by liaising effectively and working in partnership with them.
  • Work with the class KS2 teacher(s) to keep other professionals informed of performance and progress or concerns they may have about the pupils they work with.
  • Provide clerical support for the KS2 classes.
  • Understand the responsibility to share knowledge to inform planning and decision making
  • Use time effectively following direction of the teacher/other KS2 staff.
  • Communicate their knowledge and understanding of pupils to other Primary school staff and professionals.
