Interpersonnel Recruitment is in partnership for an exciting opportunity. Seeking Terminal Operators based at Sheerness Docks, the right candidates will be responsible for operation and maintenance of all equipment on site.

Within a strong team operation, you with your colleagues, will prepare for the incoming of vessels and work against the clock to unload materials whilst the ship is in port. Once the vessel has departed, you will be responsible for ensuring the materials are stored accordingly and distributed out via land transport determined by customer's orders.

This role will include operating vessel unloading equipment, shovel loaders and other mobile plant equipment, all of which full training will be given on due to the different working conditions, however experience in shovel loaders/forklifts will be required from any industry backgrounds.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Unloading of materials from a vessel in port in a timely manner and loading into storage.
  • Driving shovel loaders to relocate materials on site.
  • Helping with onsite maintenance and daily plant checks.
  • Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of all associated onsite equipment and rail pods.
  • Responsible for the maintenance of quality of products delivered to the bins of all systems and for the quality of all bulk loaded products going to other locations.
  • Operation of machinery, shovel loaders, forklifts, EWP and dock side unloading and loading equipment.
  • Assist with truck loading and unloading.
  • Assist in all maintenance requirements of the company's equipment.
  • Champion health and safety.
  • Housekeeping duties around the terminal to ensure it is maintained to a high level of cleanliness.
  • In addition to operating heavy equipment such as shovel loaders, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining specialized bulk materials ship unloading equipment.
  • Adherence to all H&S directives and protocols is essential to maintain a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues.

Education and Qualification Requirements:

  • The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of equipment operation and be able to troubleshoot and resolve operational issues as they arise.
  • Experience in a marine and/or vessel unloading environment is highly desirable for this role, as is experience in mechanical equipment maintenance and upkeep.
  • Relevant technical certifications or vocational training in equipment operation and maintenance are preferred.
  • Prior experience in marine and/or vessel unloading environment is a plus.
  • Knowledge and experience in mechanical equipment maintenance and upkeep is highly desirable.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Regular training will be provided to ensure safe operation and maintenance of this specialized equipment.

40 hour working week, overtime 1 in every 2 Saturdays and a 12 hour working rota kicks in for approx. 48 hours when the vessel is in port (Overtime given).
