Management Accountant

Robert Half Finance & Accounting are recruiting a new role of Management Accountant for a rapidly growing Pharma/Health Solution business with a finance function based in Manchester. This unique and varied role will provide the successful candidate with the opportunity to work in a stable and supportive working environment while also having the chance to progress and develop their career by leading the finance function in the business.

The Role

Reporting into the CEO, the Management Accountant will have a wide remit of responsibilities ranging from bank reconciliations through to the preparation of VAT returns.

Further duties and responsibilities of the Management Accountant will include:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform regular bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records.
  • Accurately record and manage all sales invoices in the accounting system.
  • Record and verify purchase invoices to maintain up-to-date accounts payable records.
  • Prepare and file VAT returns for all entities within the group in compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Assist in the preparation of year-end financial statements and coordinate with external auditors.
  • Prepare and submit monthly Intrastat reports accurately and timely.
  • Compile and analyse financial information to prepare monthly management accounts.
  • Generate and process invoices for clients and ensure timely follow-up on outstanding payments.
  • Support the completion of statutory audits and ensure compliance with all audit requirements.
  • Manage and process all payments, ensuring timely and accurate transactions.

The Candidate

To be considered for this Management Accountant position we welcome applications from candidates with the following:

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, ACA) is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a similar accounting role.
  • Proficient in accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, Xero).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Salary & Benefits

In return, the successful Management Accountant will receive the following:

Indicative renumeration:

  • Base starting salary: £45,000 to £55,000 (DOE)
  • Discretionary annual bonus plan: 10% of annual gross salary, pro rata.
  • Contributory pension scheme with contributions starting from 3%.
  • Annual pay reviews.
  • Holiday: 28 days of annual leave, pro rata, plus bank holidays and additional day on birthday.
  • Travel expenses paid for by the company.
