Learning Support Assistant

Seven Education are looking for multiple Learning Support Assistants to work with one of our established primary schools in Camberley, Hampshire. This role is a September start, running until the end of October 2024 with a possibility of extension. This is a full-time position and paying upwards of £15 per hour.

The role:

Provide support for the teacher and pupils working with an individual or groups in the classroom (and in the playground), ensuring pupils are kept on task and complete activities set by teachers. Deal with behavioural and special needs issues in conjunction with the teacher. Help implement lesson plans to support for curriculum, assist with testing and assessment. Detect signs of behavioural issues, work with outside health, social and enforcement agencies, maintain behaviour management standards of children, some of whom can be especially challenging and difficult with complex needs, deal with racial/abusive language and bullying. An LSA 3, due to training and expertise, will normally carry a specific specialist responsibility (eg. Speech therapy) and support and develop other staff in the school when help is needed in this area.

Requirements:

Must have: trained to NVQ3 standard and have a minimum of 2 years relevant experience. Enhanced DBS/Children's Barred List check, empathy with pupils and sympathetic to their needs, basic literacy and numeracy skills, good communication, professional, discrete and aware of confidentiality protocol, be prepared to work in an environment which may require physical effort or strain (manual handling responsibilities), be firm, sensitive and effective approach toward pupil discipline, have good organisational ability.

Desirable:- Trained to undertake very personal/intimate medical work for children with special needs, skilled in restraint techniques for dealing with difficult children.
