Your new role

As a Housing Officer, you will play a crucial role in supporting our tenants and maintaining positive relationships within the community.Your responsibilities will include:

  • To ensure a robust and comprehensive Housing Management Service is delivered to a high standard across a range of housing functions such as voids, Rents, Repairs, referrals and day to day enquiries.
  • To be a point of contact, ensuring clients have access to holistic support based on their needs and assessment. This involves sign posting and advocating as appropriate. PH should be aware of issues facing families with housing needs.
  • Ensuring the Health and Safety of the project is upheld and that the project is compliant and safe. Focus on building management as well as general Health and Safety.
  • To respond to emergency situations and/or those in a crisis. To utilise skills to reduce harm to service users and seek positive outcomes.
  • To provide sessions and diversionary activities to boost opportunities and reduce isolation and boredom.
  • To work in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to ensure a joint-up person-centred approach is at the core of the service. PH will be expected to work closely with a case co-coordinator to secure successful outcomes.
  • To carry out the duties required to ensure the efficient and effective running of the Councils Services and the welfare of its customers. This will include ensuring the practical day to day running of the accommodation and support services is effectively carried out and providing necessary support to residents. The support service will involve both individual key working duties and providing general support to residents as part of the staff team.
  • To provide excellent customer service, and to listen and empathise with customers and show a desire to help and support at all times whilst maintaining clients' understanding of realistic outcomes
  • To ensure information provided including homelessness and prevention of a key objective, housing Benefit, Council Tax reduction, Welfare Benefits, Welfare Reform, Housing Enquiries, and a wide range of general Council services is up-to-date and accurate.
  • To ensure that all customer contact is recorded and that proper processes are followed using appropriate systems, including the document management system
  • To provide assistance and support for other managers and officers within the Service, as it is reasonably required.
  • To play a part in the management and continuous improvement of the service as a whole, taking part in the planning process and initiating, facilitating and managing change positively.
  • To apply the ethos of a psychologically informed environment together with an understanding of the effects of adverse childhood experiences on a client.
  • To champion Corporate Policies and statutory requirements.
  • To work closely with other officers, sections and partnership organisations to ensure a co-ordinated service is provided.
  • To ensure continuous improvement, initiating and responding to change positively, supporting the development of the service and associated technology

  • To assist service managers, in assisting and supporting other team members and new staff, overseeing their performance and demonstrating role model behaviour at all times.

What you'll need to succeed

Previous Social Housing Experience. A passion for community development and social inclusion. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Knowledge and experience of estate management. The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
