Lightning Protection Engineer - Scotland - £35k + benefits

Our client is a well-established construction company, due to continued growth and expansion they are now looking to recruit an experienced Lightning Protection Engineer to join their existing team.

You will be Installing lightning protection and earthing systems on various structures across private, public, industrial, and commercial sectors, ensuring safety and compliance with regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Installation: Install lightning protection and earthing systems on tall structures like high-rise offices and flats, following pre-designed schemes and risk assessments.
  • Upgrades: Undertake upgrades to existing lightning protection systems as per provided instructions.
  • Safety: Utilize scaffolding, work platforms, and safety devices to work safely at heights.
  • Documentation: Complete all company paperwork accurately, including risk assessments, job sheets, and timesheets.
  • Client Communication: Provide on-site communications and advice to clients or project managers, representing the company professionally.

Job Context / Key Challenges:

  • Lightning Protection is a highly regulated niche service, requiring annual testing (BS EN 62305:2006).
  • Work is predominantly outdoors and at height, requiring access to rooftops and challenging locations.
  • Projects range from high-rise residential to industrial structures, necessitating travel and driving.
  • Role Dimensions:
  • Individual contributor reporting to an Operations or Contracts Leader.
  • Customer-facing role, representing the company and brand nationwide.
  • National role with occasional travel away from home as per customer needs.

Person Profile:

  • Experience: Strong experience in lightning protection (installation, testing, or repair).
  • Qualifications: NVQ 2 or NVQ 3 as a Lightning Conductor Engineer, CSCS card holder.
  • Customer Service: Previous experience in a field service environment with customer interaction.
  • Skills: Good planning, organization, and communication skills.
  • Desirable: IPAF, SSSTS, and PASMA qualifications, full UK driving license.
