Junior Payroll Administrator

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organised payroll administrator to join our client's payroll bureau team, based within growing firm of Accountants based near Solihull. The successful candidate will be responsible for processing payroll for a variety of clients, ensuring that all employees are paid accurately and on time, and in compliance with UK payroll regulations. The payroll processor will also be responsible for maintaining accurate records, responding to client inquiries, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Process payroll for multiple clients on a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly basis, in compliance with UK payroll regulations
  • Calculate and input employee hours, overtime, vacation, and sick time, and ensure that all statutory deductions and contributions are made
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll in accordance with client instructions and UK legislation
  • Verify accuracy of all data entered, including salaries, bonuses, and deductions
  • Resolve any discrepancies or errors in payroll processing
  • Prepare and maintain accurate payroll records and reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reports to HMRC
  • Respond to client inquiries regarding payroll processing and deductions, and provide excellent customer service
  • Maintain knowledge of current payroll laws and regulations to ensure compliance, and attend relevant training courses as necessary
  • Assist with year-end payroll processing, including preparation of P60s, P11Ds, and other statutory forms as required

Requirements:

  • Minimum of one year of experience in UK payroll processing, preferably in a payroll bureau setting within a firm of accountants
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, and familiarity with UK payroll regulations
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word
  • Knowledge of Sage and Xero payroll processing software preferred, and experience with HMRC online services.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and ability to work effectively with clients and colleagues
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
