Communal Areas Officer

Goodman Masson are currently recruiting for an Communal Areas Officer for a Council in West Sussex on a 3 month contract with a potential of going permanent.

MAIN PURPOSE OF POST:

To ensure a safe clean and tidy environment by enforcing the local authorities zero tolerance policy in respect of storage of items in communal areas of blocks of local authorities owned flats. To provide a cleaning and clearance service to the bin areas, weed spray and keep clear drying areas of these flats. To identify and resolve maintenance issues in blocks and the wider estate.

To undertake a programme of inspections of communal area's in blocks of flats to identify property left in breach of the local authorities policy. To arrange clearance or storage of items and to identify persons responsible. To provide advice and education to residents and take appropriate further action where necessary.

  • To deal with complaints concerning the enforcement of the sterile areas policy and related issues and resolve to satisfactory conclusion.
  • To work closely with Tenancy Services, Legal Services and Nuisance and Antisocial Behaviour Team to ensure enforcement action is appropriate and in line with Legislation.
  • To keep accurate records of all correspondence and management actions taken in respect of property, people and maintenance following a site visit.
  • Working closely with the Clearance and Cleaning Manager to manage and direct resources in a timely and effective way to ensure Health and Safety issues are prioritised.
  • To assist in the implementation of recommendations and resolution of issues raised in relation to Fire Safety Inspections.
  • To provide cover during the absence of the Cleaning and Clearance Manager in respect of
  1. Allocation of resources
  2. Provision of any equipment or materials required to deliver the service
  3. Safety checks/servicing/MoT of vehicles
  • To maintain the stocks of chemicals required to ensure programme of weed clearance can be completed and be responsible for the mechanised gardening equipment used in the course of the daily operations.
  • To ensure safe working environment for operatives, tenants and public by adhering to Health and Safety requirements.
