The role:

This team are looking for a dedicated Cyber Security Specialist to join our forward-thinking Digital, Data and Technology team. This pivotal role is centred around safeguarding the network infrastructure and information systems, as well as promoting secure digital services. Day to Day of the Role:

  • Oversee the daily operations and general day to day management of the security operations team.
  • Contribute to the Cyber Security Improvement Programme.
  • Maintain appropriate access control and monitoring on IT systems.
  • Vigilantly monitor and counteract threats to the integrity of Information Assets.
  • Perform forensically sound acquisitions of computer systems and associated media.
  • Oversee the ICT security incident process.
  • Execute reviews, internal audits, and spot-checks to ensure the effective operation of security systems.
  • Offer expert advice and guidance throughout the implementation of security solutions.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in developing, implementing, and maintaining effective control monitoring activities.
  • Extensive experience in managing security technologies, including firewalls, anti-malware, IDS/IPS, web filtering, email filtering, SIEM, patch management, MDM, and DLP.
  • Capability to design and recommend appropriate controls to align with Cyber security and business objectives.
  • Proficient in evaluating threat intelligence data from various sources.
  • Comprehensive technical knowledge across web technology applications and services, information, infrastructure, cloud, and managed service architectures.
  • A keen interest in information security and a commitment to staying abreast of the latest security developments.
  • Knowledgeable in risk management techniques and Accreditation work.

2 years fixed term contract/ Office 1 day per month minimum/ Newcastle upon Tyne/ Monday - Friday
