Technical Director - Flood Risk & Hydraulic Modelling

Salary - From £65,000, depending on experience

Permanent Role

Location - West Yorkshire, North Yorkshire or Cumbria (Hybrid - 3 days in the office / 2 days from home)

A Technical Director is required to join a Building Design Consultancy in West Yorkshire, North Yorkshire or Cumbria. The company are one of the largest multi-discipline building design consultancies in the North of England with a consistent stream of workflow. They offer a broad range of services in Building Surveying, Civil & Structural, Highways and Drainage Engineering and more.

Technical Director Role:

  • Lead a dedicated team of hydraulic modelers & engineers
  • Establish best practices, drive innovation, and contribute to the success of the projects related to water systems and infrastructure
  • Produce and run 1D/2D hydraulic models, Flood Risk Assessments, Flood Alleviation Schemes and Drainage Strategies on a wide range of schemes
  • Provide technical support to the team of Engineers and support them in delivering projects
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, understanding their needs, and ability to manage expectations

Technical Director Requirements:

  • Degree in one of the following disciplines: Geography, Civil or Environmental Engineering or equivalent
  • Membership with CIWEM or working towards membership
  • Ability to manage project delivery and provide leadership
  • Proven record delivering Flood Alleviation schemes, Flood Risk Assessments and Drainage Strategies
  • Proficiency in engineering software tools, such as Autocad, QGIS
  • Proficiency in Hydraulic Modelling software such as Infodrainage, Flow, HEC-RAS, TUFLOW, Flood Modeller
  • Strong project management skills, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation
  • Strong leadership skills such as mentoring and team building
  • Ability to build and maintain strong client relationships
  • Full UK driving license
