Due to demand, our international logistics client based in Kent are currently looking to appoint an experienced Seafreight Operator to expand their team, working Monday to Friday, 9am - 5:30pm with no weekends required!
As Seafreight FCL Operator, on a day-to-day basis you'll be overseeing and managing the entire forwarding process, from booking with carriers to invoice reconciliation, revenue and costs.
You'll be liaising with customers, customs authorities and third party contacts. Ensuring customs clearance documents are in order, collecting relevant documentation ready for release/delivery of cargo, invoicing and securing payments.
Seafreight Operator duties include:
- Negotiate and book cargo with shipping lines.
- Manage documentation flow. This includes bills of lading, packing lists, commercial invoices and certificates of origin and licences.
- Complete customs clearances.
- Coordinate the collection/delivery process and manage this until the final destination.
- Work in a small team, covering all aspects of the forwarding process.
- Book all movement of modes of freight.
- Deal with customer enquires and request for quotations.
Skills/ Experience required:
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in start to finish Import Seafreight Freight Forwarding operations.
- Knowledge of customs regulations, commodity codes, all related customs paperwork.
- Import and Export Customs entries using CDS.
- Commercially minded.
- Exceptional communication skills.
We're keen to speak to people who have experience in a customer facing operations role, especially those with knowledge of import and export operations or experience working as a Customs Operator / Customs Clerk / Customs Coordinator, or have good working knowledge of CDS.
In return, the successful Seafreight Operator will be offered up to £32,000, in line with skills and experience.
