About the Role

Adecco working in partnership with Bentley Motors, are seeking an Engineer for Prototype & Workshop Planning. Reporting to the Functional Manager, the successful candidate will be empowered and responsible for end-to-end planning and delivery of R&D development vehicle build and vehicle update projects.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Defining, planning and steering the project.
  • Creating plans and agreeing the delivery model.
  • Identifying and managing the risks.
  • Allocating and securing resource commitments.
  • Monitoring and tracking the project's progress.
  • Solving the problems that interfere with progress.
  • Controlling costs within approved budget.
  • Leading the project team.
  • Informing stakeholders and senior management of progress up to HoD and Director level.
  • Delivering the project deliverables and benefits on time.
  • Understanding the overall strategic and tactical demand to contribute to the 'Workshop Demand' and 'Strategic Portfolio Management' reviews to propose and agree in-house or outsourced builds.
  • Assist in the delivery of the department's technology roadmap (e.g. system solutions for project planning and delivery)

About the Person
The successful colleague will be from an Engineering and/or Project planning role. You will demonstrate:

  • Exhibit knowledge of project management principles.
  • Understanding of all vehicle components & their packaging requirements including hybrid and EV powertrains.
  • ability to plan strategically and tactically to meet customer demand.
  • Understanding of Engineering, Production, LQC processes, in order to support a variety of build activities.
  • Exhibit excellent problem-solving techniques.
  • An understanding of rapid manufacturing techniques to support Prototype Builds & Workshops requirements.
  • An understanding of the Prototype Build & Press car preparation is advantageous.
  • Highly organised with demonstrable self-management, prioritisation, and delivery of complex tasks.
  • ability to work within a team - able to work effectively leading a cross-functional team, at both Brand & Group level.
  • Communication, preparation and presentation to senior management levels.

The Function

The Whole Vehicle Prototype & Workshops Planning team is responsible for the Development of the Strategic & Tactical plans that deliver all Prototypes / Simulators / Press / Media vehicles & development activities. The agreed plans ensure delivery to customer expectations are met using In-house and external resources.

The objective of the Prototype & Workshops Planning team is to understand the Global business demand, create and agree the delivery model and identify & resolve all risks that may affect the delivery to commitments agreed with the customer.

The team succeeds by understanding the customer needs, translating the needs into in-house and external build plans & building strong working relationships with the Engineering Functions and our Group Platform partners. The function offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic role that combines planning and technical expertise, business and customer requirements.
