International Mobility Manager

About the role

We are currently searching for an incredibly talented and driven individual to join our UK HR function as a International Mobility Manager - someone who has great ideas, act with conviction and has sustainability at the heart of everything they do. Global mobility at DS Smith is not limited to traditional assignments and transfer, but encompasses all aspects underpinning a dynamic international workforce across 37 countries - so a fantastic opportunity for the right candidate to support an evolving business and put their own stamp on the role.

Confident in nature and with a solutions-focused approach, the successful candidate will build meaningful relationships effectively with stakeholders at all levels to thoroughly understand business needs, identify challenges and design pragmatic and compliant solutions for individual mobility challenges.

You will also be responsible for taking ownership of projects including those partnering with our external vendors. You will bring your experience of successfully navigating complex mobility issues to deliver operational efficiency across the programme. DS Smith prides itself on its innovative and multi-faceted international workforce programme which requires the team to challenge conventions and design new and bespoke solutions to mobility challenges.

The successful candidate will be active in implementing their own initiatives to enhance current processes and practices so having a curious mindset and the confidence to back your ideas is actively encouraged here.

About you

  • Proficiency in tax, social security, international payroll and employment tax
  • The ability to influence and confidently engage effectively with a variety of stakeholders
  • Keen analytical skills with a foundation in global mobility, payroll and international tax
  • Experience of effectively and autonomously managing multiple workstreams
  • Able to work independently but also comfortable building strong working relationships with colleagues and partners around the business
  • Proactive and solution-focused
  • Adept at problem-solving and demonstrating resilience and creativity to bring cases to a satisfactory conclusion
  • Comfortable working outside the remit of traditional expatriate/assignment model including remote working, immigration and other unique, non-standard queries
  • Ideally previous experience of working in-house in a global mobility or international HR role
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage tight deadlines
  • Understanding of remuneration and benefits concepts
  • Understanding of payroll design and function, both domestically and in relation to international mobility
  • Experience working in an environment of change

Location: This is a hybrid role with 3 days based at our Head Office in Paddington and the other 2 days at home.
