Finance Manager

Finance Manager position available at US law firm heading up their finance team in the UK.

This is a number one role in finance for the London office and will be the only qualified person in the finance team so will take full responsible for all of the financial and management accounting. You will also be responsible for managing the finance function in London office and take an active role in overseeing all of the cashier/AP & Billing function.

Specific duties include:

  • Overseeing the day-to-day finance function
  • Supervising and mentoring the team
  • Monitoring for any SRA breaches, maintaining a breach register, reviewing aged client account balances and reporting to COFA
  • Preparing Annual Accounts for the London office in coordination with the external accounting firm and the Firm-wide team
  • Main contact for the annual Financial Audit for the London office and working closely with the Firm-wide team
  • Assist external Tax advisor in the preparation of the UK annual tax return
  • Responsible for the annual SRA audit
  • Key contact for the Internal Audit on all the Financial matters
  • Manage general ledger activities ensuring adherence to deadlines, quality standards, procedures and regulatory requirements
  • Leading the accounting and billing & collections functions
  • Leading and managing the semi-annual collection drives for the London office, to maximise collections in line with the office target. This involves working with the billing attorneys and the Firm-wide team.
  • Preparing and managing VAT submissions
  • Preparing and managing PSA and P11D submissions
  • Manage the expense & revenue budget process for the office working closely with the Business Director and the Managing Shareholder
  • Preparing regular cashflow forecasts for submission to the Firm finance team
  • Preparing Monthly management reports and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Key contact with the Bank

Applicants will need to:

  • Be fully qualified in either ACCA/ACA/CIMA or equivalent
  • Have experience working in a law firm before and strong knowledge of the Solicitors Accounts Rules.
  • Have experience leading a finance team/ managing people.
  • Be happy taking on a hands-on role and getting stuck in to the finance operations work when needed - this is a small team so will require flexibility.
  • Be confident to face off to the partners and fee earning population as the lead on finance queries, and financial commercial decision support

3 days a week in the office but will need to be willing to do 5 days a week initially to get to know the team in London.
