Hays Accountancy & Finance are partnering with a well-established Manufacturing SME to recruit for a hands-on and experienced Full-time or Part-time Company Accountant on a permanent basis. Based between Stroud and Gloucester, this is a varied accounting role reporting directly into the Managing Director. The position will manage all financial processes, start to finish, for the business from management accounting and year-end preparation, to balance sheet processes, transactional finance duties, and ad-hoc reporting for senior management. The position will be tailored around the right candidate, offering hours from 20 - 37.5 hours per week, dependable on candidate preference. Your new role

Your key duties will involve production of quarterly management accounts, preparation of year-end accounts for the external accountants, quarterly VAT returns, maintaining fixed asset register, balance sheet reconciliations, managing cash flow processes and bank balances. You will manage the debtors/creditors, cash book, purchase/sales ledger processes, bank reconciliations and payroll preparation. Accruals, prepayments, journals and prepare budgets/forecasts, along with variance analysis. You will be involved in ad-hoc duties, projects, and reporting for senior management, with the opportunity to streamline and improve processes/systems. You will provide general finance advice to the Managing Director and Operational Management, along with dealing with any financial queries. The role will be tailored around the right candidate.

What you'll need to succeed

To be considered for this hands-on Company Accountant role, you will have experience within a similar position, experience working within an SME in a hands-on and varied accounting role. Key MS Excel skills, experience with financial systems, and be used to managing your own workload to meet deadlines. You will be a proactive problem solver and be used to building relationships at all levels, both internally/externally. You will be part-qualified/qualified CIMA/ACCA/ACA or qualified by experience and be a quick learner who is adaptable to business needs. Experience in Opera finance system and the manufacturing sector would be advantageous but not essential.

What you'll get in return

This permanent hands-on Company Accountant role is offering a salary between £45,000 - £50,000 per annum or pro rata, dependable on experience based between Gloucester and Stroud. Hours between 20 - 37.5 per week, dependable on candidate preference with flexibility on start/finish times.
