Production Manager - Exciting Growth Opportunity

An established, family-owned manufacturing company is seeking an experienced Production Manager to support its expansion and succession plans. This is an excellent opportunity for a talented individual to progress relatively quickly through the ranks.

About the Company: The company has a workforce of approx 40 employees, with 20 dedicated to production.

The business has seen consistent growth, driven by a focus on customer support and innovation, with a robust culture of Continuous Improvement (CI).

They are committed to fostering a lean, efficient production environment and have already invested in training key staff in Six Sigma methodologies. This is a business that values forward-thinking leadership and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, manage, and develop production staff to enhance team performance.
  • Plan and schedule production activities to meet business demands.
  • Monitor production metrics such as Productivity, Utilization, and OEE.
  • Identify and drive Continuous Improvement and Lean projects in the production department.
  • Optimize costs and increase overall productivity across the production line.
  • Manage equipment maintenance programs, ensuring safety and quality standards are met.
  • Prepare business cases for equipment procurement and other production investments.

Future Development Opportunities: The role offers scope for further responsibility in areas such as:

  • Purchasing and materials management
  • Warehouse operations
  • Production control

Candidate Requirements:

  • Minimum of three years of experience in production supervision/management within a manufacturing environment.
  • Preferably, experience in sheet metal fabrication or a similar industry.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to manage change and bring teams along on that journey.
  • Strategic thinking and a proactive approach to process improvement.
  • Qualifications in engineering, lean manufacturing, or business are advantageous.
  • Familiarity with quality, environmental, and safety management systems is a plus.

What's On Offer:

  • Competitive salary ranging from £40,000 to £50,000, based on experience and qualifications.
  • Profit-sharing bonus scheme.
  • Flexitime and 33 days holiday (inclusive of bank holidays), increasing to 35 days with service.
