About Us:

Job Description: We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accounts Payable to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will support our financial operations, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in all tasks.

This role is Monday to Friday 8-4pm or 9-5pm, 37.5 hours a week with 30 min for Lunch.

The role is temporary for 8-12 weeks.

Key Responsibilities:

Payables

Ensure the following is available

  • Aged payables listing by invoice date, preferably in Excel.

Trade payables – overall level

  • Payables days by comparison with target and prior periods
  • Agreement of general ledger control account with sub-ledger

Purchase ledger balances

  • Completeness of balances
  • Debit balances and old unmatched items

Accrual for goods received but not invoiced

  • Completeness
  • Matching of invoices with receipts of goods
  • Validity of old items

Other taxation and social security

  • VAT, (or sales taxes), PAYE and national insurance
  • Results of any VAT or payroll audits
  • Returns and payments made on time

General ledger accounts in agreement with or reconciled to the returns and payments/receipts and Tie in payments to actual copies of returns.

Other payables, accruals and deferred income

  • Completeness, particularly of payroll-related accruals
  • Accounts reconciled
  • Agreement with general ledger
  • Composition and movements
  • Supporting documentation
  • Time apportionment
  • Allocation between within/over one year
  • Volume rebate arrangements with customers
  • Audit fee accrued in accordance with head-office instructions
  • Amounts due to directors and staff
  • Staff expenses correctly accrued for both cash and company credit card expenditure

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in an Accounts Payable role.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP & Excel) is a plus.
