Facilities Engineer

Location: Waltham Cross, Herts
Salary: £35,000 – £40,000 per annum
Shift Pattern: Any 5 out of 7 days – 40 hours per week – 7am to 4pm

We have an immediate requirement for a Facilities Engineer, for our National Distribution Centre in Waltham Cross.

The Facilities Engineer is responsible for completing routine and emergency repairs to equipment, fixtures, fittings and building systems (either with direct or indirect supervision), including basic carpentry, decorating, building repairs and mechanical trouble shooting. This will also include responding to reports of broken or faulty items, conducting routine inspections of buildings/equipment and liaising with external specialists and contractors.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • To undertake scheduled and reactive maintenance activities within the warehouses and offices at the National Distribution Centre.
  • Provide a full range of maintenance support for PPM and reactive issues including but not limited to - minor building/plumbing repairs, Mechanical/Electrical trouble shooting and repairs & general maintenance.
  • Implement preventative maintenance measures.
  • Maintain inventory of repair equipment and supplies.
  • Carrying out reactive and emergency breakdown tasks allocated.
  • Liaise as required with external contractors, overseeing their activities and conform to all H&S regulations and best practices.
  • Attend meetings and workshops.
  • Focus on high customer satisfaction within service level targets.
  • Perform other maintenance duties as requested.
  • Travel may be required occasionally to support subsidiary sites inside the M25.

To be successful in your application, you will need to be able to demonstrate:

  • Recognised Mechanical / Electrical Engineering qualification.
  • Full clean UK driving licence.
  • Significant experience of facilities maintenance.
  • Significant experience of working in a Warehouse / Food Distribution environment (preferably a chilled environment).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • H&S/ COSHH trained.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Physically capable of lifting 25 kg unassisted.
