Enterprise Risk Business Partner

We are looking for an Enterprise Risk Business Partner to provide subject matter expertise and ensure that operational risks are managed effectively within the Board's risk appetite. This role is crucial in maintaining and enhancing the Enterprise Risk Management Framework (ERMF) and ensuring comprehensive risk management across the organisation.

Day to Day of the Role:

  • Lead second line oversight for operational risk (excluding IT Risk), assessing the validity, completeness, and appropriateness of operational risks within departmental risk registers.
  • Enhance operational risk awareness and capability amongst senior management and the Board with the support of the Enterprise Risk Manager (ERM).
  • Improve risk competency across the organisation, focusing on the Risk Champion community.
  • Develop high-quality month-end second line risk reporting and challenge first line reporting and metrics.
  • Drive improvement in departmental risk registers through workshops, reviews, and one-to-one support.
  • Raise operational risk awareness and provide training at all levels of the organisation.
  • Support the ERM in overseeing operational risk matters arising from business change.
  • Lead thematic risk reviews, investigating risk areas and the effectiveness of the control environment.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Degree level qualification.
  • Minimum 3 years in a 2nd line risk role or third line assurance role.
  • Core understanding of all risk types, including prudential risk.
  • Expert knowledge of operational risk management theory and practices.
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft packages.
  • Strong leadership and influencing skills, capable of engaging with Executive level.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify root causes and strategic implications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills.
  • Agile work approach, excellent attention to detail, and resilience in stakeholder engagement.
  • Desirable: Risk or accounting qualification (e.g., Institute of Risk Management, ACCA).
  • Desirable: Knowledge of the regulatory environment and mutual business models.
