Structural Design Engineer - St. Austell - £35-40,000
Well Placed HR have been engaged by a past client, a highly successful and well established engineering business based in St. Austell. The company has tasked us with sourcing a Structural Design Engineer to join their friendly and experienced team. The role is offered as a full time, permanent contract to be based at the company headquarters in the Holmbush area.
Reporting to and working closely alongside the Technical Sales Manager, this will be broad and interesting role where the successful candidate will play a key role in overseeing and managing all structural engineering requirements for a range of M&E projects. Key responsibilities to include:
- Reviewing customers' technical requirements & manage incoming enquiries
- Utilise software such as CAD, Revit, AutoCAD, and RSTAB for structural design projects
- Drafting CAD drawings for conceptual and construction works
- Creatively modelling mechanical and electrical supports using 3D plant software
- Structurally calculating steel framing solutions using RSTAB software
- BIM modelling to create building models with the required supports within
- Creating material take-offs for our workshop and purchasing department
- Solving support design problems
- Conduct site visits to assess build progress and address design issues
- Manage related administration (workload planning, quality checks etc.)
- Continually learning about the products, its software plugins, and libraries
- Manage project timelines and ensure deliverables meet quality standards
- Utilise Project Management skills to oversee project milestones
- Adapting to customers according to their industry's requirements
- Supporting other members of the team with training & review
For this role we seek an experienced candidate with strong exposure in structural design and the use of a range of CAD software tools - AutoCAD, REVIT, Navisworks, and RSTAB. The successful candidate will possess an engineering related degree and have a good understanding of structural design and analysis to include engineering with bolted connections and modular steelwork, building codes and regulations. The role works as part of an experienced team so excellent communication and team working skills essential.
