Job Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Solicitor specialising in forfeiture claims to join our clients legal team. The successful candidate will handle a variety of complex legal matters related to property forfeiture, including commercial lease disputes, landlord-tenant disagreements, and recovery of assets. This role requires a solicitor with strong knowledge of property law and dispute resolution, who is adept at negotiating settlements and providing expert legal advice to clients.

Key Responsibilities

:

  • Manage forfeiture claims: Handle cases relating to the forfeiture of commercial and residential properties, advising both landlords and tenants.
  • Litigation & dispute resolution: Represent clients in court proceedings, arbitration, and mediation. Provide strategic legal advice on property disputes, breaches of covenants, and unlawful forfeitures.
  • Drafting & reviewing legal documents: Prepare legal documentation related to notices, forfeiture proceedings, surrender of leases, and other property law issues.
  • Client advisory: Provide expert guidance to clients on their legal rights and obligations, including advising landlords on valid forfeiture actions and tenants on avoiding forfeiture.
  • Negotiation & settlement: Negotiate out-of-court settlements when appropriate, ensuring the best possible outcome for clients.
  • Risk assessment: Evaluate the risks of pursuing or defending forfeiture actions and provide comprehensive reports on legal strategies.
  • Compliance: Ensure all work is in line with current legislation.
  • Maintain client relationships: Build and maintain strong, professional relationships with clients, offering timely and accurate legal advice.

Essential Skills & Experience

:

  • Qualified solicitor in England & Wales with specialising in property litigation, particularly forfeiture claims.
  • In-depth knowledge of property law, landlord and tenant legislation, and forfeiture procedures.
  • Proven litigation experience, including advocacy in court and handling complex property disputes.
  • Strong negotiation skills with the ability to reach effective resolutions in contentious matters.
  • Excellent communication skills: ability to explain complex legal issues to clients in a clear and understandable manner.
  • Attention to detail and a strong commitment to delivering high-quality legal services.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, managing a caseload efficiently.
