Job Title - Housing Officer/Housing Allocations Officer

Locations - Northampton/Rugby(hybrid working)

Role Purpose (Allocations Officer):

To deliver an efficient and professional allocations service, ensuring the council's Housing Register, allocation of accommodation within the council's own stock and nominations to partner registered provider vacancies are administered in accordance with the Council's Housing Allocation Scheme (policy), service procedures, national code of guidance and housing legislation (Part 6 of the Housing Act). To provide comprehensive housing advice and information to households in housing need in order to ensure their housing needs are met via the appropriate intervention.

Role Purpose (Housing Officer):

  • The main responsibilities of the post are to provide all housing management functions of the Council as far as they affect tenants to achieve the Council's housing objectives and the priorities of the Council.
  • To contribute as a member of a multi-functional team of housing staff to provide a seamless, qualitative and customer focused service.
  • To contribute as a member of the wider team in creating a positive working environment.
  • To ensure that customer care is maintained to the agreed standards according to the Council's purpose, aims and values.
  • Contribute to the delivery of a comprehensive Housing Services in accordance with the Council's policies and procedures.
  • Deliver the housing service in accordance with the Housing Strategy.
  • Work on own initiative under the general direction of the Housing Services Team Leader and Senior Housing Officer.
