Supplier Operations Manager

We are looking for a Supplier Operations Manager to join Heathrow on a permanent basis. This will be working fully onsite at The Compass Centre, Heathrow.

Job overview

The Supplier Operations Manager will provide leadership to the function to ensure that contracts are managed to deliver specified safety, quality, financial, innovation, risk, compliance and performance objectives.

This role is responsible for ensuring the whole of the Engineering and Baggage function is commercially aware of its budgets and has appropriate controls and procedures in place to manage costs, realise financial opportunities and mitigate risks

The role needs to ensure the functions achieves EBITDA targets and take a risk base approach to its commercial strategy and deployment of operational plans of the delivery teams.

Principal accountabilities

Maintain clear governance of supplier performance across cost, asset performance, compliance, risk, opportunities realisation, H&S and environmental targets.

This will be done by the robust testing of the operational plans across all delivery teams, ensuring commercial performance is understood.

Ensuring of the contract scope is understood by the delivery teams and is supported and tested in terms of cost control, asset performance, compliance, risk, H&S and environmental targets.

Have the ability to challenge cost and contract management by carrying out audits and Quantity surveying jobs by attending shift work to ensure value for money.

Work with the business to create a culture that delivers cost savings to current cost base whilst maintaining or improving asset performance through the innovation of contracts.

This will involve the robust review of what works are currently sent to suppliers and ensuring value for money.

Work with the Operation Manager's and other BU team members to identify and deliver performance / cost saving measures.

Manage an effective month end process for the BU including budget setting and forecasting process (1-3 years).

Including participation in business planning activities e.g. H7.

As part of the budget setting any actions to improve performance in terms of risk or opportunities will be identified.

Work closely with the finance and procurement team to ensure fit for purpose contracts are in place providing value for money.

Ensure during re-tending of the contract pipeline we maximise our understanding of today's asset base, ensuring our business partners and suppliers play an active role in asset management and help contribute to the operational asset strategy & delivery teams operational plans.

Ensure appropriate Commercial controls are in place, to ensure that we only pay for what we buy, incorporating, a cross area audit, final account valuations and cost review process.

Benchmark services to drive best practice and share across the supplier base

Work with business to identify and deliver performance / cost saving measures.

To participate in projects and working parties and to carry out any other duties that may be outside the standard remit for personal development, or as may be reasonably required by the Company

Develop and champion an environment that is customer centric, collaborative and constructively challenging at its core.

Framework and boundaries

The role influences directly employed colleagues and business partners and assists the management of suppliers & consultants across the business unit function.

It directly impacts the performance of a+ £100m cost base, ensuring appropriate controls are in place for the management of risk and realisation of opportunities.

There is a need for a high level of influence of internal and external teams. The primary interfaces are with Engineering and Baggage, Suppliers, Finance, Procurement and Capital teams.

It is based at Heathrow and limited travel will be expected.

Budget reporting, forecasting and analysing responsibility for the Engineering function.

Management of a small team of Commercial Coordinators

Qualifications and Experience

Degree qualified and membership of relevant professional body including Quantity Surveying. (Desirable)

Strong track record of delivering business improvement and change in a complex environment, achieving significant increases in operational and commercial performance, whilst reducing costs and improving efficiency. (Essential)

An effective problem solver with high intellectual capability, with record of applying a challenging and analytical approach to complex issues and developing innovative yet pragmatic solutions. (Essential)

Proven track record in delivery of compliance within a complex work place setting. (Desirable)

Broad, transferable knowledge of a wide range of assets, systems and improvement methodologies relevant to the airport. (Desirable)

Demonstrable background in driving commercial best practice and knowledge of procurement processes. (Essential)

Collaborative working and strong influencing skills are essential, as is the ability to model and demonstrate appropriate behaviours to lead the change. (Essential)

Strong and inspiring leadership skills, able to create a clear vision for the future and effective at engaging and motivating others to follow and pursue that vision. (Desirable)

Salary: £50,000 per annum plus benefits
