Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer (Mechanical Bias)

We are looking for a Maintenance Engineer responsible for ensuring that the depot's fixed and mobile assets maintain greater than 95% availability. The role involves both planned and unplanned maintenance, carried out in a safe, efficient, and cost-effective manner, while complying with all health and safety regulations.
Day to Day of the role:
- Comply with all health and safety regulations regarding equipment installations, maintenance, and daily inspections, reporting any operational issues.
- Meet all contract targets and adhere to best practices and legal compliances for maintaining equipment.
- Maintain the depot to allow the facility to operate at its optimum.
- Keep accurate maintenance records for planned and unplanned maintenance work.
- Complete defect reports in a timely manner and report to the line manager.
- Plan, follow up, and document preventive maintenance for the equipment.
- Manage relationships with maintenance subcontractors and manage invoicing.
- Manage spare parts stock and find alternatives for repairs and spare parts.
- Evaluate current service subcontractors and equipment suppliers.
- Maintain industry sector knowledge, especially Best Available Techniques (BAT).
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Mechanical or electrical engineering qualifications are essential.
- 3-5 years of experience in maintenance roles.
- Significant practical engineering experience, particularly with automated equipment including recycling machinery, sortation, and conveyor systems.
- Multi-skilled in both electrical and mechanical disciplines.
- Experience with planned preventative maintenance systems.
