Lead Quality Engineer - Watton - circa £30k-£40k

Duties / Responsibilities:

PRIMARY:

  • Administrative documenting of, and notification to (where appropriate) the Technical Director and QA & Compliance Manager, of Nonconformities and customer complaints to ensure data is captured for analysis and any necessary corrective actions can be implemented. Expediting such actions and facilitating Root Cause Analysis as appropriate.
  • To assist the QA & Compliance Manager with data collection and trend analysis of finished goods punch list items.
  • To conduct internal QMS auditing as requested by the QA & Compliance Manager. (Training will be provided)
  • General administrative support to the Quality department; updates of internal procedures and instructions etc. as guided by the Technical Director and QA & Compliance Manager.
  • General administrative support to the Quality department in relation to the updating of internal and external literature, including but not limited to:- IOMs, Certificates, Declarations of Conformity, Route cards, Product database and Data sheets.
  • To assist the QA & Compliance Manager with CAD drawing revision as guided by the Technical Director and QA & Compliance Manager.
  • To assist the QC Inspectors and the QA & Compliance Manager with the maintenance of the equipment calibration system.
  • To assist the QA & Compliance manager in the returns process, including but not limited to:- Arranging the returns number, arranging collection and inspection, Raising the lines on AX (MRP System) for any rework and liaising with the client and QA & Compliance Manager at all stages
  • Provide advice to peer group on quality related matters and ensure agreed quality tasks and objectives are completed.
  • Liaising with Engineers, Production Supervisors and production staff as appropriate to discuss and resolve any issues arising regarding our products.
  • To support and aid the training of any trainee/new staff as required.
  • To work in accordance with the Quality and Health & Safety Management systems meeting the requirements of BS EN ISO9001.
  • To maintain the radiation exposure log

SECONDARY:

  • To support Quality Inspectors to inspect, including verification of parts against order, visual & electrical testing of spares orders and process to dispatch department.
  • To produce detailed and accurate inspection records and assist in resolving any resulting issues.
  • To support QC Inspectors with electrical testing and inspection against engineering drawings, procedures and documentation of products during all stages of manufacture, checking heater design criteria identifying and bringing to the attention of the Engineers and Technical Director or QA & Compliance Manager any potential problems, as appropriate.
  • To support QC Inspectors with carrying out the final inspection and demonstrative testing against customer specification of completed products in the presence of client / third party representatives, when necessary, and authorise for release once successfully validated.
  • Other work as required as part of the Quality Control team.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • knowledge / experience of the inspection of electrical / mechanical products within an Oil and Gas/ Petro-chemical / Pharmaceutical environment,
  • a thorough understanding and use of standard measuring equipment,
  • an ability to read engineering drawings.
  • an understanding / knowledge of ATEX standards.

Key Interfaces:

  • QA & Compliance Manager: To attend meetings as requested to do so, and to assist as directed.
  • Engineers: Liaise with Engineering staff relating to issues arising from inspections and testing.
  • Production: Resolving any issues or technical queries to ensure production assembly is smooth and unhindered. Communicating with Design Office staff to get any issues resolved in a timely manner.
  • QC / QA: To provide training, guidance and assistance in allocation of resources as requested by Management.
