Trainee Immigration Advisor

Salary £23k reviewed after six months and then annually

Office Based essential Bingley BD16

Office hours: October to May: 08am to 15:30 with half an hour lunch break

June to September: 08am to 17:00 with an hour lunch break

Please note before applying you must be able to commit to working June to September as no holiday can be taken during this time due to the nature of the work involved.

Holmes and Partners Ltd are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our small, dynamic team. As a Trainee Immigration Advisor, you will play a crucial role in supporting international students who have received offers to study at independent school. You will guide them through the complexities of obtaining suitable immigration permissions for studying in the UK, enhancing their experience and ensuring they can enrol smoothly.

Key Responsibilities but not limited to:

  • Visa and Compliance Support: You will assist with various tasks related to visa and compliance services, helping the team maintain our high standards of service. You will work closely with colleagues to ensure all processes are efficient and accurate.
  • Supervision and Training: For the first six months, you will work under supervision to receive the necessary guidance and support to succeed in the role. During this time, you will gain a deep understanding of our processes and develop the skills to work independently.
  • International Student Support: You will handle complex right-to-study queries, assist students with visa regulations, and ensure compliance with the Student Sponsor licence obligations. This role is vital in converting offer holders into enrolled students, mitigating the risk of losing them to alternative study destinations.

Primary Objectives:

  • Provide immigration advice and representation to international students and their dependents in accordance with OISC regulations.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and case files and manage CAS creation for students.
  • Provide advice on complex immigration issues such as short-term study visas, visitor visas, and related issues.
  • Stay updated on immigration rule changes and understand their impact on students and processes.
  • Use the Case Management System (CMS) to ensure all data is accurate, correspondence is recorded, and relevant documents are uploaded.

Client Interaction:

  • Maintain client relationships and provide unlimited telephone and email advice on Student and Child Student route issues.
  • Respond to enquiries promptly and with professionalism, maintaining high standards of conduct.
  • Escalate concerns to the Managing Director when necessary.

Team Collaboration:

  • Ensure cases are billed promptly and financial records are maintained.
  • Work collaboratively across teams, contributing to the success of the wider business.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • A motivated, innovative, and adaptable professional with excellent IT and interpersonal skills.
  • Prior experience with visa compliance, immigration advice, or intercultural work is desirable but not essential.
