Social Worker – Fostering Team

Myn is recruiting on behalf of our long-term partner for a Social Worker to join the Fostering Team in Dorchester. This role is pivotal in supporting foster carers and ensuring the best outcomes for children and young people. If you're a dedicated social worker with a strong understanding of fostering services, this is an excellent opportunity to make a real impact.
What You'll Do:
- Deliver statutory services in line with the Children Act 1989, providing support, information, and guidance to foster carers and children.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to understand children's needs, ensuring that care plans are effective and regularly updated.
- Collaborate with a wide range of professionals, including health, education, and social care providers, to deliver integrated support.
- Prepare detailed reports for court proceedings and meetings, presenting cases professionally and effectively when required.
- Maintain accurate records, input data, and ensure the integrity of management information.
- Engage in mentoring, supporting less experienced staff and contributing to the development of team skills.
What We're Looking For:
- Social Work Degree or equivalent (e.g., CQSW, DIPSW) and Social Work England registration.
- Experience with Dorset Safeguarding Children Board's Threshold Tool and in working with Child in Need, Child Protection, and Children in Care cases.
- Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, including Child Protection Procedures and permanency planning.
- Ability to assess and address complex cases, with excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- A team player who can work flexibly to meet service needs, including travel across the county and occasional out-of-hours work.
- A valid driving licence for local and county-wide travel.
