Position: Teaching Assistant
Location: Newport Youth Academy
Salary: £70 per day
Contract: 3 Months+

Newport Youth Academy is the leading training provider in Newport, dedicated to transforming the lives of young people aged 16-24. Our innovative approach combines vocational education with practical work placements, enrichment activities, and personalized support. We operate 51 weeks a year, providing a unique, non-mandatory provision where learners are paid to attend and receive transport and lunch allowances.

**Key Responsibilities:

  • Support Learning Programs: Assist in the creation and delivery of engaging training modules that promote positive learner progression.
  • Assist in Planning and Assessment: Support learners in planning their learning and assessment processes.
  • Help Recruit Learners: Aid in attracting and enrolling young people into our transformative training programs.
  • Conduct Inductions: Assist in welcoming new learners, completing eligibility documentation, and conducting structured induction sessions.
  • Facilitate Workshops: Support personal development workshops aimed at fostering growth and development.
  • Assist in Delivering Qualifications: Help ensure the timely and successful completion of agreed qualifications.
  • Collaborate with Stakeholders: Work with partners, employers, and support agencies for effective program referrals.
  • Support and Motivate Learners: Build positive relationships with learners, encouraging them to reach their full potential.
  • Monitor Performance: Assist in managing contractual performance targets, ensuring compliance and maximizing funding.
  • Review Outcomes: Support regular reviews to monitor program outcomes.
  • Implement Policies: Adhere to and implement the Council's Equality, Health & Safety, and Safeguarding policies.

**Essential Qualifications and Skills:

  • Education: Minimum NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a relevant subject; experience in educational support roles is advantageous.
  • Experience: Proven experience in supporting educational pathways, working with vulnerable learners, and assisting in course material development.
  • Skills: Effective written and oral communication, excellent organizational skills, ability to manage challenging behaviors, and a team player with initiative.
